Changing where Pages documents are saved.

Hello, I know this is a kind of a stupid question but I worry about losing documents. Several years ago an Apple technician had me change my Pages documents to be saved from iCloud to being saved on my iPad. (Why? Don’t remember) I want them to be saved to iCloud instead again. I know there’s a simple toggle to change location in Settings but I’m afraid I’m going to lose documents. Any chance of this? I have a lot of documents and info I can’t lose. Many thanks for any help.

(i have an iPad Pro 12.9 2nd generation, IOS 16.2)

Check out the steps below to set up iCloud Drive and have all of your Pages stored in iCloud.

"Before you begin

  1. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the latest iOS or iPadOS, and your Mac to the latest macOS.
  2. Set up iCloud on all of your devices.
  3. Make sure that you’re signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on all of your devices.
  4. If you have a Windows PC, update to Windows 7 or later and download iCloud for Windows.

If you have a device that can't update to the latest iOS or macOS, see the minimum system requirementsto use iCloud Drive.

Set up iCloud Drive everywhere that you want to access and edit your files.

On your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Look for iCloud Drive in the Apps Using iCloud section.

  1. Go to Settings > [your name].
  2. Tap iCloud.
  3. Turn on iCloud Drive.

You can find your iCloud Drive files in the Files app. "

iPad Pages docs in settings but not in app? Hi I cannot find a number of important pages documents on my iPad I’ve tried looking in the iCloud but can only find generic sample documents not any of the ones which have involved months of work. When I go into settings - press General then select Pages I can see a list of the documents I need access to. The only cation I can then take is to press EDIT and I am not sure what to do next as EDIT seems to just mean delete. Really hope someone can help! thanks in advance

Almost every Pages document has vanished Why would Apple delete all your documents when they are backed up to iCloud? I don’t understand what the purpose of the back up even is if backing them up also delete them so that you no longer have access to your files. I don’t remember this being a problem and tell the last iPhone update. It seems that updating your iPhone means you get screwed because the iCloud back up really just means your files will be deleted. I don’t understand this. I’m surprised at the app Pages doesn’t work better. That the iCloud backup doesn’t work better. I thought the back up was to help you not hurt you
